• 6 Stages of Planning
  • 3 to 4 Meetings
  • 3+ Hours of focused one-on-one time with an attorney
  • 44 Days from initial meeting to Delivery

The first meeting lasts 1.5 hours and combines the initial and design meetings for most estates. The initial meeting is where you will have an opportunity to tell me about your unique family and your concerns and goals. The design meeting includes a conversation about your planning options, the advantages and disadvantages of each option, and your choice of strategy customized to fit your unique family.

The second meeting, about two weeks after the first meeting, typically combinses the review meeting and the signing meeting and lasts about 1.5 hours. In the review meeting, we review the drafts of your documents, check for any errors, make additions or changes based on your preferences. The signing meeting is the time when we sign the documents in your estate plan and make your estate planning document official.

Our goal after the signing meeting is to have your estate planning documents scanned, bound and your Estate Planning Portfolio assembled and ready for delivery in 30 days from the signing. When your planning documents are ready you come to pick up your documents at our office at the delivery meeting, which takes about 20 minutes.

Finally, if you are using a trust in your planning strategy, we can help you make sure to fund your trust. Funding takes about six weeks or longer depending on the assets you are placing in your trust and the funding option you choose. After your estate plan is complete, remember hat you must maintain it. Consider becoming a member of our continuing care program to make sure your plan stays up to date and includes any changes in the law, your health, your finances and your family.
